Tea Party
Use fresh flowers as centerpieces for the tables. Purchase or borrow as many different sets of teapots, plates, and cups as needed and set each table. You can theme each table around a particular baby related item if desired. Create a tea menu - assorted teas, scones, fresh fruit, etc. For those English ladies at heart this shower is sure to be a hit!
Pampering Mom (for a second or third baby)
Decorate the shower local with very fancy decorations - cloth tablecloths, real glass china, and flowers. Instead of baby gifts, give the mom to be things to pamper herself, like lounge clothes, bath products, coupons for housecleaning, free meals and the big pleaser SPA CERTIFICATES!
The Red Carpet
As each guest arrives and walks down the red carpet, videotape the "stars"! Let each guest record a special message to the mom-to-be. Watch the video at the end of the shower and give the guest of honor the video to add to her other special moments.
Deep Freeze (great for a second or third baby)
Have each guest bring a cooked, freezable meal, for the expecting parent(s) to eat after the baby arrives.
Books for Baby
Ask each guest to bring a favorite book. You can ask for themed books — animals, shapes, sound, colors, numbers, etc. or just ask them to bring their favorite childhood book. As an icebreaker you can talk about why the book was their childhood favorite.
Bathtime Shower
Each guest brings a gift centered around bath time. (i.e. baby tub, bath toys, towels, wash clothes, soap and shampoo)
